Four Corners has been working with photographer Sarah Ainslie and a group of older people since October 2009. The group consists of six Tower Hamlets’ residents aged 60 and over.
Participants worked on projects about their families and changes in the local area, printing up black and white photographs in Four Corners’ darkroom. They also took part in oral history recordings by Bishopsgate Institute.
An exhibition of their work took place at Four Corners from 18-22 May 2010, alongside a display about the World War II Bethnal Green Tube Disaster in 1943. The exhibition was in association with the Stairway to Heaven Memorial Trust who are raising funds for a permanent memorial at Bethnal Green.
